Description
Each Belmont spinning top is CNC-machined from a solid piece of aluminum for precision and durability. Designed in the style of spinning top made famous by the movie “Inception”, this timeless piece can be passed from generation to generation. This elegant top is by itself an art piece that’s perfect for your or your loved one’s desk. Fidgeting with items is known to boost creativity and focus. But younger ones can enjoy it as one of the oldest recognizable toys found in cultures all over the world.
The base offers an ideal surface to spin the top with less friction, while containing it to a small spinning area. It also adds more elegance to the design as a whole. Engineered from a single piece of aluminum on a CNC-lathe.
The story
The Belmont Spinning Top is named after the popular amusement park of the same name, located in the northern part of Montreal, that operated from the 1920’s to the mid 1980’s
Before the La Ronde amusement park on Ile Ste-Hélène, there was Belmont Park, which entertained generations of Montrealers and Quebecers alike. To make sure families felt safe on-site, the park also had its own police force. Besides the numerous amusement rides, there were sideshows, a large dance hall, as well as a popular bingo hall : there was fun to be had at Belmont Park. Fun for everyone… even politicians, since Charles-Émile Trudeau, respectively father and grand-father of two Canadian Prime Ministers, was a long-time senior administrator of Belmont Park: Canadian politics may not be viewed as entertaining as compared to our southern neighbours, but they never miss to take us on a roller-coaster ride once in a while.
